The National Baseball Hall Of Fame Opens
On June 12, 1939 the National Baseball Hall Of Fame was officially dedicated in Cooperstown, New York. Stephen C. Clark with the assistance of Alexander Cleland, won support for the museum from the heads of the National and American Leagues at about the same time that planning was underway for the celebration of Baseball's 100th anniversary. National League president Ford Frick proposed that a Hall of Fame be established in Cooperstown as a part of the celebration in 1939.
