Two days after the U.N. Security Council deadline for Iraq to withdrawal from Kuwait, operation Desert Storm began with an Apache strike on Bagdad at 2:38 am on January 17, 1991. The war would involve four weeks of aerial bombardment from coalition aircraft and a four day ground war.
