For only the third time in NASCAR history and the first time on the 2.66 mile Talladega Superspeedway the 500 mile race held on October 6, 2002 ended without a caution flag. The win went to Dale Earnhardt, Jr., making him the second person in NASCAR history to win three consecutive Talladega victories.
