The First 12 Hours Of Sebring
After a trip to the 24 Hours of Le Mans Alec Ulmann conceived of an endurance race in America. On March 15, 1952 the first 12 Hours of Sebring was run as a product of his efforts. The race was held at Hendricks Field, built in 1941 as a military training facility, on a 5.2 mile circuit.
The race was won by Harry Gray and Larry Kulok driving a Frazer Nash LM. The duo managed to cover 754 miles at an average speed of 62.83 miles per hour over the 12 hour race.
The race has run every year since, becoming one of the premier sports car endurance events in the world.
