First Woman To Sail Single-Handed And Non-Stop Around The Wo

On September 17th, 1994, Lisa Clayton set out from England on a journey to become the first woman to sail non-stop and unaided around the world. She set sail in a strong steel hulled 35 foot vessel she had purchased from the University of Birmingham and named the "Spirit of Birmingham."

After 285 days at sea she returned to England on June 29th, 1995; having covered almost 31,000 miles.
