After winning the groundbreaking recall election that ousted Governor Gray Davis, top Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger was sworn in as the 38th Governor of California on November 17, 2003. The 56-year-old Austrian immigrant was administered the oath of office by Court Chief Justice Ronald George while his wife, Maria Shriver, held the Bible. After being sworn in Schwarzenegger said, "I am humbled, I am honoured and I am moved beyond words to be your governor."
