On July 25, 1978 the first test tube baby is born in England. Louise Brown was the product of the first successful in vetro fertilization (IVF). Initially, IVF had a 3 to 6 percent success rate, but medical technology has raised that to 24 percent.

Since 1978 more than 114,000 babies have been born in the US alone.
