Maurice Gibb of Bee Gees Fame Dies At 53 Years Old

After suffering a cardiac arrest and abdominal surgery to remove a large portion of his small intestine, Maurice Gibb died on January 12, 2003 in a Miami hospital. An autopsy found that Gibb died because of a congenital condition that caused his small intestine to twist (called volvulus). Gibb was one of the three surviving members of the Bee Gees (brother Andy Gibb died at the age of 30), a 70s disco power house.
