The Longest Criminal Trial In U.S. History

Beginning in November 1981 the trial of Angelo Buono who, along with Ken Bianchi, was the Hillside Strangler. After more than a thousand exhibits and 250 witnesses the jury retired to consider ten counts of murder in October of 1983. After several days of deliberation he was found guilty in nine of the ten counts of murder.

After two years the case became the longest criminal trial in U.S. judicial history. Buono was sent to Folsom Prison and Kenneth Bianchi was sent to Walla Walla prison in Washington state where he had plead guilty to killing two Western Washington University students.
